Mauritania fisheries sector contributes 10k tons of fish for food security

The Mauritanian fisheries sector has committed to contribute 10,000 tons of fish to support its government to tackle the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic and reinforce food security. The Ministry set up a supply stocks commission, supervised by the adviser to the Minister of Fisheries and with representatives from the fisheries sector, which will oversee the process from the reception of the donations by the operators to the shipment to Nouakchott. The total amount is expected to be delivered at the rate of more than 100 tonnes per day. Some details remain to be discussed, especially with regards to the distribution from Nouakchott to the populations.
