Priorities for African artisanal fisheries — Coalition for Fair Fisheries Arrangements

African artisanal fisheries have never been more essential to the survival of coastal communities and to the food security of African populations.

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 14b, which calls for "Ensuring access to fisheries resources and markets for artisanal fisheries". To achieve this goal, our partner, the African Confederation of Artisanal Fisheries Organisations (CAOPA) has identified three priority areas for action:

PROMOTE THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN SMALL-SCALE FISHERIES

PRIORITY 3:

protect SMALL-SCALE FISHERIES from the other blue economy sectors
