In June 2022, small-scale fishers from Africa, the Pacific, Latin America, Asia and Europe identified five areas of action for governments to offer a sustainable future for these communities by 2030.

The 36th session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) has omitted to add SSF in the agenda, despite the fact it has been a standing point for the last few sessions. SSF ask their governments to support them with concrete actions and pursue the dialogue on the implementation of the Guidelines for Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries.
